Endowment

What are Endowments?

Endowment gifts, also called enduring gifts, are financial contributions which are invested for future ministry. Moneys given as enduring gifts are invested by and overseen by the Endowment Committee. The Endowment Committee's investment policy balances fund income and growth while protecting the principal. The interest earned from this money is used for the mission and ministry of our church. Endowments do not fund existing budget items but enrich the total ministry of the church.

What if the purpose of Endowment gifts?

Endowments honor persons by providing ministries funded in their names.  Endowments provide a way to honor persons who have made a difference in the church's life by underwriting the ministries they believed were important and necessary.  Endowments enable the church to start ministries that would otherwise be impossible.  Endowments are a way to ensure the future ministry and mission of our church.

Who is responsible for Endowment Funds?

Our Charge Conference elects the Endowment Committee.  The committee reports to Church Council and to Charge Conference.  This committee handles all policies, investments, requests, and dispursements.

How do I give money to the Enduring Gifts Program?

There are lots of ways to give enduring gifts.

• You can make a direct gift to any one of the already existing Endowment Funds.

• You may make a gift to start a new fund.  The Endowment Committee and Church Council must approve the creation of any new fund.  New funds must match the church's vision and mission.

• You can include the church as a beneficiary in your will or living trust.

• You can tithe your assets just as you tithe your income.

• Throughout planned giving, estate taxes can be reduced by giving the money to the church.

• There are even ways to give money to the endowment that significantly increase the amount of money your other beneficiaries receive while also supporting your church.

• In the near future, we will be having workshops by the gift giving experts to answer all your specific questions.

• We will also be creating new Endowment Funds with its own purpose and goals.
